So, you're under 14 and you have no investment money. You've searched all over the house - but came up with only two dimes, a nickel, and some lint.
Time for Plan B: ask mom and dad.
Oh, but times are rough - mom and dad don't want to give up any of the cash that they worked so hard for to pay for groceries and bills.
Well, looks like it's time for Plan C: open up a flower stand.
Yep - flowers. It's spring, which means some of the most beautiful plants around are in bloom. Check out your local park, look in the backyard (but don't interfere with mom's garden!). Wildflowers are a popular choice in bouquets sold across the country, and the best part is: picking them won't cost you a thing!
People love flowers. They love giving flowers. Just set up a nice table someplace where a lot of people tend to walk by (your local farmer's market, park, ect). Make an attractive sign to grab the attention of potential customers and BOOM - you've got a small business that's sure to rake in the dough! With the right marketing strategy, you could easily sell each bouquet for $5-$10. Sell 10 bouquets and that's $50-$100 right there! And you didn't spend any money!
Now, you're not going to make a million dollars off of this idea. You probably won't even make a thousand. But with enough persistence, you could definitely score in the 100s range. And that's a huge accomplishment for anyone.
Oh yeah - and don't worry if you live in an area that's not bustling with people all the time. You don't have to open up shop on a corner - try getting a little creative with it. Hand out flyers, go door-to-door...and pay attention to the times of the year that flowers seem to be a little more popular. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and birthdays are all great times to make yourself more visible. These are all times that people really like to give flowers!
